高津川
Masuda is home to two large rivers, the Takatsu River and the Masuda River. Masuda is also a water town, and is a large local town that flourished from the Heian period to the Middle Ages as a port and river transportation area. It is a Japanese heritage site.
One of these rivers is the Takatsu River. It is the only clear river without a dam. It used to be the clearest river in Japan. The waters are clean, including the Hiki River at the source of the Takatsu River, and it is also a famous spot for Ayu fishing. You can also enjoy the exquisite Ayu dishes at the restraunt “Mikadoya” in the Nichihara Town.
Takatsu River was the setting for the film “Takatsu River.” As you can see in the film, people who love and protect Takatsu River have maintained this clear stream. However, due to the recent logging of trees and the inflow of soil and sand due to development, the river is gradually breaking down. I hope it will be maintained through the activities of people who are trying to protect Takatsu River and the support of the city.
Everyone, let’s protect the clear stream Takatsu River.
I will post a picture of Takatsu River.
