Why don’t you learn about Sesshu by enjoying the four seasons of Ikoji Temple and Manpukuji Temple, which were built by Sesshu in Masuda City, the place where the master of Suiboku-ga (ink printing), Sesshu, died*1, and cleaning these Japanese heritage sites?
* 1 There are various theories about the place where Sesshu died.
Masuda City is the place of death of not only Sesshu but also Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, who is famous for the Manyoushu (the extensive collection of poems compiled during the Nara period in Japan). There is the Kakinomoto-Hitomaro shrine. Iwami Kagura (the traditional sacred music and dance at the Iwami of Shimane prefecter) is also performed in various places. In particular, the program of “Yamata no Orochi” is famous and powerful.
There is also the clear strema Takatsu River (Ayu no Sato), the “Kara-Oto-Suisen” park with narcissus and oddly-shaped rocks, the “Ebis” shrine called Mon-Saint-Michel in the Sanin’s reagion, and a beautiful view of the Sea of Japan. Nearby are the Koi no Sato (a town where many carp swim) “Tsuwano”, “Hagi” (the famous tourist destination with a World Heritage Site), and the geological Hornfels. Masuda and its surroundings are a place where the natural environment of the mountains, rivers, and the sea merge with culture. In addition, the world-famous Hokusai collection collected by Mr. Nagata in Tsuwano has been donated to the Shimane Art Museum, and its exhibition is a sacred place where you can see Hokusai in person, which is said to be possible only in Matsue and Masuda of the Shimane prefecter.
Why don’t you come to Masuda and visit Sesshu no Sato and Japanese Heritage? ”Masuda ni Kinsai” (please come in the dialect of Masuda)
